The Movement for Peace –MPDL- was born in the heat of the enthusiasm shared in a pacifist demonstration celebrated in Madrid in November, the 15th 1981 by a group of people that decide to constitute themselves in an Association, respecting the current 1964 law.

The first steps of the organization are those typical of a social movement of the ‘80s, years in which in Spain and Europe there was wide expectation for political change, and social realities appeared, which a remarkable number of citizens supported, even in a country like Spain, without a tradition of international commitment.

The Movement for Peace is the result of the initiative of men and women promoting progressives ideas and actions which want to transform, and was born with a clear pacifist and international vocation, pushed by the committed citizenship. As its name tells, the Movement for Peace –MPDL, was constituted to rally citizens towards defined objectives:

“PEACE BETWEEN PEOPLES, PROGRESSIVE DESARM OF THE STATES AND FREEDOM AS FUNDAMENTAL VALUES OF THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS”
