More than 150 families have new housing in the Palestinian refugee camp of Beddawi (Lebanon)

The Spanish NGO Movement for Peace -MPDL- along with his local counterpart Naba'a and with the support of its partner ECHO, has already completed the rehabilitation of 156 houses in the Palestinian refugee camp of Beddawi (northern Lebanon). These accommodations are intended for refugees who fled the Nahr el-Bared settlement as a result of the confrontation last year between the radical group Fatah al Islam and the Lebanese army. The conflict resulted in the displacement of about 30,000 people towards the neighbouring camp of Beddawi.

This situation has led to a situation of overcrowding and overburdening of the existing infrastructure in Beddawi. So the Movement for Peace-MPDL-has designed a housing rehabilitation project for 250 families, which has been completed at a 75% so far.

Thus, the project has rehabilitated approximately 156 garages in order to host displaced families. Based on three garage models, the project has placed particular emphasis on the adaptation of garages to the needs of each family. For example, it has conditioned homes for children with asthma, there have been divisions within the accommodations to preserve the privacy of family members, and it has provided hygienic equipment to those families who lacked them and suffered infectious diseases.

The Movement for Peace -MPDL- has been working steadily with Palestinian refugees in Lebanon since 1997, where the organization focuses his work in the fields of assistance to disabled persons, children and women.
